Capital IQ Pro, S&P Global's esteemed research division, delivers comprehensive research and analysis to various investment stakeholders. As a cornerstone of S&P Global, renowned for its extensive ratings, data, research, and the prestigious S&P Dow Jones Indices, Capital IQ Pro serves over 300,000 finance professionals and 18,000 companies worldwide. While the platform boasts an array of valuable tools, its heavy focus on the user interface detracts from content engagement.
Our team was tasked with delving into the research platform to elevate user interface interaction, thereby providing users with a more immersive content experience. By enhancing the Capital IQ Pro interface, we aimed to instill trust in the platform while facilitating seamless access to desired content and tools. Our approach involved infusing the platform with personality, particularly by refining user experiences for commonly used features such as the dashboard, news, screeners, idea generation, and charting tools.
Central to our endeavor was guiding users towards content and tools of interest while also encouraging exploration of new offerings they may not yet be aware of. Our objective was to streamline navigation and maximize user satisfaction, ensuring that users can effortlessly access the resources they need while enjoying the opportunity to discover new insights and tools.

Commencing with collaborative brainstorming sessions provided an opportunity to assess the platform and pinpoint areas of focus. Subsequently, we conducted thorough analysis of the platform, examining user experience, features, and functionality to highlight key areas of interest. Additionally, we researched analogous tools and experiences offered by competitors to glean insights on enhancing the Capital IQ platform. Finally, we delved into conceptualization, exploring diverse ideas aimed at enhancing both the user interface and overall user experience within the platform.

We examined multiple competitors to identify successful strategies that could be integrated into the Capital IQ platform for enhanced performance. Incorporating specific specializations from these competitors could greatly benefit Capital IQ. Customization enables users to tailor their dashboard and data, fostering a personalized experience. Efficiency is crucial, providing users with up-to-date information that accelerates workflow. Effective onboarding and intuitive navigation are pivotal in the online experience, facilitating swift access to desired information and addressing common challenges users encounter in finding what they need. We aimed to cultivate a user relationship characterized by familiarity and exploration.

As a team, we collectively identified specific areas of focus that we believed would enhance both the platform and the user experience. My assigned task involved revitalizing the idea generation and screener tool. This tool presents a wealth of valuable information for identifying investment themes; however, its complexity can pose challenges for users unfamiliar with its functionality. Notably, the tool excels in offering an extensive filter system, enabling users to customize their desired results. Nonetheless, the sheer volume of information available can overwhelm users, necessitating a streamlined approach to ensure accessibility and usability for all. Our goal is to deliver a personalized exploration experience while ensuring that information is quick and tangible to all users.

My additional area of concentration involved improving the news section. Currently, the news experience is overwhelming and lacks a clear content hierarchy. We aimed to enhance specialization across the platform for all users. Unfortunately, the news tool's visibility is often compromised, resulting in minimal user engagement. To address this, we sought to streamline the news tool, prioritizing the user's specialization, categories, and content. By reducing the number of modules within the news section, we aimed to make the content more digestible. Our objective was to introduce a structured hierarchy to the section, ensuring clarity for users and facilitating smoother interactions. Incorporating elements from other tools, such as market data and a user-friendly filter system, was also part of our strategy.
