Birdhouse is a restaurant in Erie, Colorado that brings together rum, tacos, and ramen. This unlikely combination has people wondering, ‘why hasn’t this been done before? Although rum, tacos and ramen are the focus, Birdhouse doesn’t want to be pigeonholed - the elevated food and concept draws customers from Boulder, Louisville, Lafayette, and beyond. Birdhouse’s interior and exterior redesign embodies the restaurant’s brand identity, establishing a level of familiarity between the restaurant, customers, and the visual design elements. Creating a logomark and texture that represents what Birdhouse stands for through the form of simplicity and aesthetic.
Riff off of existing elements such as the bird mural, title patterns + cinder blocks by simplifying and deconstructing them. Everything was designed to be complimentary to its surroundings. Simple BUT thoughtful accents. The experience of Birdhouse dictates the brand to the patron, the designs just subtly adds to it. After talking to Conor we decided to keep the pattern that is inspired by the tiles; it’s a nice accent even if people don’t out it together, it’s a nice subtle-thoughtful touch. Colors are playing off interior. Landed on a slate blue as the main color, a cool white, teal and mustard. Use of color is subtle just like the brand. Fonts are Clickbait + Courier New.
